What is the AKS Foundation?

The Annika Kelly Strain Foundation was founded in 2006 to provide hope and support to those who are touched by pediatric cancer.

While many foundations focus on research and finding a cure for cancer, the AKS Foundation is focused on improving the spirits and comfort of the young cancer patients at UCSF.

The Foundation's mission is to give children who suffer from pediatric cancer a moment during their courageous battle when they can forget their illness and enjoy JUST BEING A CHILD.

The Foundation strives to make the many days and weeks at UCSF as tolerable and enjoyable as possible for patients and their families. The Foundation's primary, long-term objective is to fund and sponsor an outdoor area for patients and families at the new USCF Children's Hospital, to be built at the Mission Bay Campus in 2012.

Through the efforts of volunteers and donations, the AKS Foundation funds programs to make a difference in the lives of the very courageous kids that spend weeks and months in treatment in UCSF's Pediatric Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant units.
